St. Martin Day lantern parade

St. Martin Day lantern parade
Helyszín:Taksony - Fő tér
Időpont:2018. november 11. (vasárnap)

We commemorate bishop St. Martin with a lantern procession every November. St. Martin was born in the region of present-day city of Szombathely (former Roman town Savaria), and was known as the patron saint of beggars. For the announcement of the Local German Self-Government, about 1000-1500 people take part in the procession with lampions and lanterns. The compelling mass of people commemorates the saint on the village square, then marches through the village centre, eats the Saint Martin’s day cake and gets warm by the pleasant hot tea.
